The Movie

Well, time for a write up. The whole town is sleeping, yet i feel so fresh and alive filled with an enigmatic joy . You would wonder what has caused me to be so happy in the middle of the night . It’s  all because i was able to re live my the memories of my college days and taste that feat of achievements we did when we were students. All those inspiring characters that moulded us into a better man in life.

I was watching this movie October Sky , which I had postponed for a long time for now. I always wanted to watch it as I knew it had something to do with college students and rockets. The movie is based on a true story. After watching the movie I realized that I had been missing a very nice movie that has the energy to fills us hope and can send us flying high.

The movie starts up with the space race scenario, when the Russians launch the Sputnik in to outer space. The news about Sputnik spreads like fire all across USA . Just like any other town in USA , the town of Coalwood is also taking about the Sputnik , lest they know that a boy from their town is going to become a NASA engineer . And that’s ‘Homer’, one among the group of four high school boys who are dedicated to make their dream of a sending a rocket flying high in the sky , come true.

I felt Coalwood was similar to villages in India  , but unlike India, the town’s economy depends mostly on coal here. And Homer’s dad is the chief person dealing with the coal mine and who’s also the one who wants his son get his into coal business. Homer had an elder brother who is a good football player and is granted a full Scholarship under football Scholarship as he is good at sports unlike Homer.

                      These guys get the help of the town people and put in their diligent work to learn this rocket science. A quite few people including the school Head Master disapprove of  Homer’s interest towards rockets  and always discourages them.He even advises that Homer take up his dad’s profession of coal mining instead of following up his blind passion towards building rockets.

The interesting part is when the town police claims that these guys have started the forest the fire by firing their rocket . Accused of starting a fire , Homer and his buddies abandon their rocket launching, fearing an arrest . A few days later  Homer’s dad gets into an accident at mine and is hospitalized. With no other option Homer is left to go to mine and work for feeding his family .

                     I was wondering  , how would these boys be acquitted of the Forest fire case ? Just like it happened in my life and  just like where i got my inspiration from , Homer gets inspired by his teacher Ms Riley.Ms Riely’s words sends Homer searching for his answers on how to prove he is not guilty and  how he can restart the rocket work to enter the Science fair.  He starts out with calculating the trajectory motion of the rocket and calculates the distance traveled by the rocket. He proves that the rocket had not traveled till the area of forest fire and it was caused by some other people. Charmed by the boy’s skill the headmaster takes them to the Science fair.  The boys are obviously selected at the national level science fair for their ingenious work , the winner of which gets a full scholarship at many university. After all who wouldn’t want to fund such a brilliant guy.

                      I found that there are a lot of similarity between Coalwood and  the city that I did my undergraduate from  , between the character like Ms Riley and my professors and lecturers who truly inspired me and  , also people like the head master of Coalwood high school and a few characters in my real life situation who never wanted us to be unconventional, between friends and brothers who worked as a team in labs and  the band of boys in the film, believing in ourselves to make our dreams come true. It really did bring all those precious moments back.

The moment of Friendship, achievement, failure , mentoring , guidance , hope and everything I had felt in those four years of undergraduate was right in front of my eyes for a second.

It’s more than movie , and an inspiration to every student around saying ‘ No matter where you come from , it always what you dream and how much u believe in it’. ‘Homer’  was like any other ordinary boy from a not so famous town , but if he can do this and become a NASA Engineer training astronauts for space shuttle mission.  why not us ?

Living Hell

Waking up ,  i wade through the ashes of  past

burned , destroyed yet it haunts me and fills up with tears fast

Memories of the sweet old days fills every today with pain

And pain of the present , blazes my future with fears !

When medicine turn poison,  when flowers become thorns

its better to get invisible but you can’t hide or disappear !

A ray of hope is burning high , yet too far from my reach

the only fire that doesn’t hurt me but makes me feel clear

The truth being no one sees the world through my eyes

And everyone thinks what they see or do is the right !

When all that’s left is memories and ashes of the past

I’m Waiting for day when i can vanish in these ashes

Spreading everywhere and caring for those i loved forever “

Seen This some where ?? Guess the Movie !

It’s Christmas and the i could feel the joy and fun of the festive season everywhere despite the chillness in the air . I planned to reach Cbe for Christmas and here i am blogging from Cbe, after sending out Christmas wishes for my friends out there.I suspect why haven’t my network provider , Airtel charged me for messages that i sent out on this day, which i realized only after sending them. Anyway its miracle time and lets not be concerned. I was pondering over the thought of gifting a present to my sister this Christmas and I came up with this idea of buying a iPod Shuffle for her. The new shuffle’s  packed with a whole lot of features like Voice Controller,etc.. and has a pretty good battery life too . I hope she likes it.

Being at Cbe always given me a inner peace for its the city where i spent my early childhood. It’s been nostalgic every time i happen to walk the streets. It’s indeed a very peaceful and beautiful city with its over advantages. My visit this time didn’t have an objective , i just wanted to spend some time with my grandparents and cruise the city sometime.

I would always like to take a saunter along R.S Puram where there’s no dearth for Window Shopping. It’s very good to see all sort of Shops ranging from TASMAC to Loius Phlippe showrooms. Adding to Cbe’s  splendor and much to its grandeur , there’s a mall that’s  being under  construction in Brooke bond , which i feel i bigger than PVR and EA at Chennai. Even in its half completed phase the mall architecture seems breath taking . Its so huge , i hope they fill it up entirely, so that Cbe gets a new look. And of course it’s gonna change the people lifestyle , esp. those of the college goers soon.

I could see that the spending power of the people has been rising sharply over the past few years. With metro’s such as Bombay , Kolkatta , Chennai competing in Tier 1 we have cities like Cbe , Madurai , Salem , competing in Tier 2. With IT parks coming up all around Cbe , i think its a high time for people in cbe. The City has started its transformation which is very visible all around the city in the form of new stores and malls . A change that is inviting and inspiring.

I know it’s yet another movie review. But what so different about this movie , it wasted my favourite hero . After seeing Rock(Dwayne Johnson) razing the WWE arena as a fearless pit bull and then to see him in a movie that’s completely a typical yet insipid alien movie was too much to take.

Much to my dismay the movie ‘Race to Witch Mountain’ was more of alien and highly predictable story.Everyone knows US government agencies can track you down in just seconds using technologies which we never heard of, if they wanted to it . We have seen it all in movies like Eagle Eye, Enemy of the state and every Bourne Identity , Mission Impossible class of movies. But in this movie you are made to believe that they can’t crack down on Rock who been cruising the city in a yellow cab. I really suspect if they ever wanted to crack a joke on these Agencies like the Scary MOvie series.

Plot is as happens to be like , there are two aliens who happen to come to earth for a very good reason , which you have to believe. The reason being the alien army is planning an invasion on earth and they have come here to take back the reports of their experiment to prove that life can be restored at their planet. Then you have some other alien creep who follows them in a not so fancy metal suite, like in the old Frankenstein movie. Instead of making me feel scared , he made me laugh. The director could have had a little more of imagination.

There are things which really gets on your nerves, a UFO which chases the yellow cab that Rock’s been driving and then a chase which is so un believable , which finally ends in a train crash. So much for the creativity. Then Rock takes up the two aliens to vegas meet up a astrophysicist from a UFO fair who happens to research on some advanced topics. She introduces them to an ex-specialist who knows of a secret facility that holds a long undisclosed spaceship , with which the aliens could escape back. The only typical alien movie part of the story which was acceptable by me.

Then again the usual story , the aliens being captured and held in captivity in the highly fortified facility where resides their old ship. It is so highly fortified that Rock and Carla Gugino can enter in , disguise themselves as Scientist carrying out experiments and save the aliens.Most hilarious part where they have to steal the ship, Carla Gugino dressed as a scientist , she tells the fellow scientist that orders were given by the Higher off to evacuate the place and every one leaves without a word. Felt like hitting my head against a wall. They call this the most secret facility , highly fortified and all that but end up showing such crazy things going on around.

Finally the aliens find the ship , enter and fly away carrying with them the report of the experiment to prove that life is still possible at their planet. I would really say , if you were planning to see ROCK in action , don’t anything except for the first few minutes of the movie and except for a quick fight at the Vegas. If you want to see Rock in action , this is not the movie. This is most of a Comic genre than a serious one , i would add it to my Comedy list . And i won’t suggest anyone to wathc this movie ever.

‘Creativity starts with Belief’ caught my attention today. I found myself attracted to this quote today.

Our Mind is such a beautiful component which is capable of performing miracles.Creativity is one of its wonderful ability. What triggers this creativity ? When i asked the question over myself, i came up with this answer . It starts with the day our mom’s tell us bedtime stories. Each day hearing these stories our mind tries to create creatures out of fantasy stories, filling us with a hope , dream and a quest in the imagination land. It not just stops there and goes on and on, during our kindergarden our textbooks are filled up lots of pictures to aid this creativity.

As we grow so does our ability to think and our fantasize. This power of creativity gives rise to new innovations. It empowers us with novel ideas to create the un- imaginable. People would have laughed at Wright brothers , when they trying to create a machine that could fly them in the air.But today everyone avails the consequence of the creativity of Da vinci. Wright brother’s innovation did give the human community its powerful transport.

A lot of examples can be quoted for this creativity being the key force in driving technology ahead. It not just a sound knowledge or bookish knowledge that is needed , but what actually needed is creativity combined knowledge. And this creativity not just sparks up , it needs a catalyst.

This catalyst is called ‘Belief’, in your self. Make your own rules, build your own world, create your own land , believe in what you are. This will empower you to think out of the box , allowing us to see various dimensions that are blinded to the narrow sighted person. Unleash your thinking to construct a new world and believe what you want to see in there.

A lot of people are not given exposure to these creativity inspiring activities, stories that train young minds to think of world that never existed and challenges that need creative and novel soltuions. When we expose young minds into such scenarios , we can train them to develop this skill and thereby provoking a change in the normal routine of the future generations.

The future holds in it a lot of challenges and moments for fresh and creative ideas,to be sufficed by the human mind. Lets start working on building a more creative and intelligent species of homo sapient.  Work on things from  different perspective to do the un thinkable and to achieve the unimaginable. Our mind is a powerful weapon to deal with any challenge , lets put it to the test !

No more bookish knowledge , no more memorizing , no need of a narrow minded , mechanical species. Let us build the new breed of creative thinkers who hold the power to deal with the challenges to be posted by the years to come .

As humans we are designed to love, a power that is unparalleled till date. It’s an unexplainable feeling that fills our heart every moment we live. We as a human normally encounter a lot of circumstances wherein we may feel the loss or void of this feeling of LOVE. Our heart searches in every possible dimension to that one thing which can be only felt and gifted by others.

I too had an assumption or lets me say a narrow perspective that this love can only attributed to living things. Say we love our mother, our father , brothers , sisters, babies , what not ? But really what if our mind is powerful enough to build this love artificially . Recently i had completed my long pending task of watching the movie Artificial Intelligence (A.i) . I should concede that i was speechless.

The plot of the movie is like this , the humans have been researching on developing a fully intelligent , rational thinking , and logical reasoning robot that can replace a human child. A couple happens to loose their son and takes home a Meca(a mechanical being. , i.e, a Robot boy,DAVID ) home. He happens so to be so real that mom develops love towards him and feels him as her son. But the docs are able to resurrect their son back to life and he returns. David acts and thinks like a normal human child except that fact that he is not one. David wants his mum to tell him bed time stories , put him to sleep , play with him. But a series of unfortunate events , the father prompts to return the David back to the lab. Mum accepts this and makes her mind to take him to the lab all by herself.

On the way she realises the love , she had for him and cries. David asks her ‘mommy, why are you crying ?’. She can’t handle the feeling of killing her own son and abandons him in the forest on the way. The director has done a great job . I was really moved when you see him almost cry , ‘Mommy please don leave me…’.So touching it was.
I never thought that a robot if designed to be so perfect and replicate a human in all aspects will be treated in the same way. David starts his journey of finding the blue fairy , just like in the fairy tale of pinnachio. He hope that only the blue fairy can turn him in to a real boy. His search leads him to the prof who designed him , who happy to see his artifical david. But there’s no way to console the little david that blue fairy hardly exists.
It was one of the beautiful movie i have ever watched. Admist all the diabolical artificial intelligence based robot movies like Terminator , universal soldier, and a lot more , this one makes its mark.
If you happen to encounter such a situation what would you do ?

(Note : He is so real , that except for the fact he doesn’t eat or sleep , he love you just as we do love our mom.)

1) Abandon the child saying he is only the Robot .
2) Take him and love him forever , never considering what he is .

KILL HIM

The Following is the brief description of the great disaster that has struck me hard ….

Night Before Theft:
[ 4 people in room , it's 12 Midnight and the last Guy Turns up,leave the front door shut but forgets to bolt it ]
I make a call to my senior (Dinesh Bro) and then place my mobile, by my side and lie down for a good night sleep.
Me: Hey machi , wassup ? Seems like your got overloaded today ??
Renga: Ya man , work’s hectic ! Needed a overtime….

He turns on the light and leaves ma room,preparing for sleep.He just closes the door and forgets to lock it inside.After a span of 5 minutes i wake up and turn off the lights to go back to sleep.My laptop is near ma head , with my mobiles by my side.

Morning :
Arun (Wakes me up): Dey ! where is your laptop ????
Me (still in sleep): Dude , renga would have kept it in my bag , i think….
Arun : Dey ! Laptop’s gone ….
Me(Woke Up):Man , yeah da , laptop’s not in my bag either ..
Arun : Dey my mobile’s gone too
Renga : Dey my mobile’s gone too
Arun: My Purse ! Cards !!!!
Renga : My Purse !
Alg: My Phone’s here but my purse is missing da !
Muthu: My purse’s !!! My Watch !! My MP3Player !! gone ….

Our rooms is in total chaos and depression .
I try to unlock the front door ..
Me:Damn ! They locked it from the outside…
Me:Renga ! Call our neighbor and ask him to unlock da….
Renga (Calling Neighbor):Sir can you unlock the door,it’s locked from outside
Neighbour(unlocks)… Wat happened ?
Renga: Someone came and robbed our house…

we narrate the things of what we lost….

Neighbor: Call your banks and cancel your cards…
Everyone is set to cancel their cards..
Luckily my purse which i threw somewhere in my self escaped those diabolical eyes and so was my bike key. But all those which was obviously open was robbed.We are now totally penniless left out like a soldier stripped of his weapons.

Renga(visits the Balcony):Man, they have dumped somethings here , see there, our SIM CARDS !!!
All go to our balcony,
Muthu:Those papers were in my bag ! They took my bags , dump the things outside and used it to carry the loot ….
Me:Hey that’s my Trouser there ,but i never hanged it in the balcony , it was there in the room , under the Hanger…
(Later i realize they took my Fast track belt and left my trouser there , maybe because it didn’t fit their A$$ )
Alg:Manoj i think this may be your SIM ..
Me:Muthu give me Ur mobile (since it was in his Pocket) it escaped !

We try out the SIM and find it to be Renga’s SIM card. We then leave to make complaint @ police , though we don have much Hope. Arun and Muthu leave out to the station . A patrol team on its way come and visit our hope to guess their Modus Operandi , say they came inside via the Balcony !

Renga:My Mp3 players gone too !!
Alg:Damn, they have taken all the headset too…..

Then the next wave of police comes in and Inspect our house and asks us to File a Complaint of what we lost!!!

The rest that followed was a day that marked deep sorrow in our life , all those things which we lost were the ones which we savoured much. So much Data , so much money , so much happiness , all lost in one night !

The Plot they Hatched:
We suppose the following happened and we just feel we could have been a little secure and alert -
Our balcony door that connects to our Kitchen was left opened .They locked our Main door,so we may not be able to go out and shout if in case we woke up (unfortunately no one woke up !!). They have entered into the balcony , and then in to the Kitchen . One by one they happened to enter each room. All rooms we well lit by the light from the street lamps that entered through the Window.

I was sleeping alone (like a Tiger in it’s den ), but happened to keep all my Mobile and Laptop nearby ma Head.The same was with Arun and others , except for Muthu and Alg who had one mobile in Pocket and other under his pillow.Luckily it escaped their eyes !

So now we sit with a little hope that police may find things we have lost , from those god damn looters,who took all things we had ! So we were totally Disconnected for few days. We hope the police would help us in nabbing those who are behind this shit, but with a little hope ! The complaint is filed , and so far there’s no Improvement….(as anyone would expect)

We are trying to overcome this shock and we move on … With hope that life has got more to come. It was a valuable lesson but was a costly one. So all you folks out there , be careful , we never realize till we lose those we Love the Most !

Its not hard to reach her,
but its hard when she hardly reaches me

Woke from dream i found
not the blue or a clue

For nor there was not an angel or a child
But only the promise i left behind

Still searching for the angel tat i loved ,
To full fill a promise i my made “
